LEAD CAPTURE

Missed calls: the ₹5,000–₹50,000 leak nobody measures

27 May 2026 · 5 min read · SOT Labs

Ask a business owner how many leads they got last month and you'll get a number. Ask how many calls they missed and you'll get a shrug. That asymmetry is expensive: industry data puts the value of a single missed business call between ₹5,000 and ₹50,000 depending on your ticket size, and 85% of callers who reach voicemail never try again.

Measure it this week

Your phone system (or even your call log) already knows. Count: calls received, calls answered, calls during closed hours. Most businesses we audit discover 20–40% of inbound calls go unanswered — lunch rushes, simultaneous calls, evenings, Sundays. Multiply by your average customer value and the shrug becomes a line item.

Plug it with the boring solution first

The fix isn't heroic. A missed-call rescue flow does three things: detects the missed call, sends an instant WhatsApp message ('Sorry we missed you — what do you need? Or pick a time and we'll call back'), and either books a slot or triggers a callback. The caller gets acknowledged within seconds — before they dial your competitor.

This is the smallest automation we build, and the one with the most embarrassing ROI: if one recovered call a month covers the cost, every call after that is profit. Start there, measure for a month, and let the recovered-leads report argue for whatever you automate next.
